


Shrine of MONTENEGRO
Natural temple in the form of a large cross is underground near Podgorica.
According to legend, the God Himself through the angel opened the ancient church.
The monastery was founded by Simeon Popovich. The appearance of the cave has determined the position of the future monastery. The cave consists of three channels. The main largest channel is an altar. The cave has been expanded, and on both sides of it the chapel were created. Outside it looks like an ordinary church, but it has only a facade built to the rock, and two bell towers on each side. Going inside a person is in a cave, the walls are painted with images of saints. Wall paintings made by hand of St. Simeon, one of the most learned men of those times. The monastery is also stored a lot of books and records.
High in the vast mountain range, is the Monastery of Ostrog built into the rock at a height of 840 meters above sea level - the highest Montenegrin sanctuary, founded in XVII century. The Monastery was founded by Vasilije, the Metropolitan Bishop of Herzegovina in the 17th century. He died there in 1671 and some years later he was glorified. His body is enshrined in a reliquary kept in the cave-church dedicated to the Presentation of the Mother of God to the Temple. In the monastery kept his power, to touch the pilgrims who come from around the world hoping to heal yourself and your soul. This Orthodox sanctuary of the most respected in the Balkans.
